| Poyry wins urban mass transit project in Munich Finland-based Poyry has been awarded a contract by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology for an urban mass transit project in Munich, Germany. The project is a pilot project for the Ministry to be carried out in close co-operation with Deutsche Bahn AG. The project, called "Erdinger Ringschluss Paket A", is part of a rapid rail connection to the strongly expanding Munich airport. It includes upgrading of a 6-km long section from two to four tracks, double-tracking of a 4-km section and construction of fly-over junctions for two existing mass transit lines in front of the airport. The project is intended to improve the service standard of mass transit between Munich city and the airport and to provide a better direct rail link from northeast and southeast Bavaria to the airport. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
