| ABB equips new commuter train fleet in Paris Zurich-based ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has signed a frame contract with Bombardier worth more than $30 million to supply traction transformers for 172 new trains that will upgrade commuter travel in the heavily congested Īle-de-France region around Paris. Powerful traction transformers are mounted on trains to ensure power supply to the motors, and since there is no back-up system due to limited space, they must be failsafe.
