| Leipzig building fairs focusing on energy efficiency  From 24 to 27 October 2007, the Leipzig trio of baufach, SHKG and efa brings together representatives from industry, skilled trades, retailing as well as architects, engineers and planners. The central topic for the fair trio is the efficient use and saving of energy. The exhibit area of baufach covers virtually all branches of the building industry. Exhibits range from building materials and the completion of building projects, on to demolition and recycling. With joint stands for building materials, fire doors and computer use in construction, the baufach appeals both to experts and interested end users.The consultation affiliation Baustoffindustrie/BDB e.V. and the Bundesverband Deutscher Baustoff-Fachhandel e.V. are already holding their general meetings in the run-up to the baufach (22 and 23 October). A specialist programme on topical issues within the various industries and trades is also scheduled during the course of the fair. In the SHKGforum (24 to 26 October), particular weight is given to energy saving and eco-aware building practice. This involves the EU building-energy-efficiency directive and the use of renewable energies in buildings. A symposium held on 25 October 2007 by the housing and property business association, Bundesverband deutscher Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen (GDW), is all about "Demography and energy efficiency". During the efa electro fair, experts discuss the market potential of heat pumps, the future market for photovoltaic generation and other topics. At the traditional Leipzig Construction Debate on 23 October 2007, it's all about "Building and Quality".
