Hill International rehabilitates Libyan oasis town

Hill International, the worldwide construction consulting firm, announced that it is in final negotiations with The Oasis Tourism Investment Co. to provide project management services during the rehabilitation of the City of Ghadames. The first phase of the rehabilitation is a 14 month effort involving site surveying and master planning which is expected to begin in September 2007.

Ghadames, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a Libyan oasis town that lies along the Libyan borders with Algeria and Tunisia and has approximately 10,000 residents. It is well known for its beautiful and inventive architectural styles. Houses and other structures are specially built to withstand the extreme temperatures of the hot Saharan climate. Tourism plays an important role in the city with many visitors from all over the world coming to attend the annual Festival of Dates which is held each October.
