PCL Constructors Westcoast wins its largest-ever project

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. has been awarded the largest-ever lump-sum project in PCL history: the $537-million Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion. The Vancouver Convention Centre will serve a pivotal role for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and 2010 Paralympics by housing the International Broadcast Centre (IBC). When completed, the Centre will cover nearly 93,000 gross square meters (1,000,000 square feet) of space, consisting of areas for exhibits, meetings, a ballroom, a signature room, parking, and support operations. The development of this project also involves the construction of a viaduct immediately south of the property. The building's rooftop will feature a six acre "living roof", one of the largest of its kind in the world.

This contract began in October 2004 as one for Construction Management, and it was converted to lump sum in April 2007. Over $80 million of the total contract value was completed under the Construction Management agreement.

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. (BC Region) is part of the PCL family of companies, the largest contracting organization in Canada and the eighth largest in the United States.
