John Holland awarded water infrastructure project in Sydney

John Holland, a 99 per cent subsidiary of Australian construction giant Leighton Holdings, announced that the Bluewater Joint Venture, consisting of John Holland and Veolia Water, signed the $960 million contract to design and construct the Sydney Desalination Plant.

The Bluewater Joint Venture has been chosen to design, build, operate and maintain the plant at Kurnell for 20 years. John Holland's interest in the project is valued at approximately $600 million.

The 250ML/day Sydney Desalination project will feature reverse osmosis technology, with inlet and outlet structures and tunnels, a drinking water storage facility and administration building. Works will include landscaping and rehabilitation of the site.
