Carillion wins £5.8m Paston Parkway project

Carillion, a UK-based support services and construction company, will be starting work on a £5.8 million scheme to improve the principal northern gateway into Peterborough in August. Carillion Regional Civil Engineering has been awarded the main contract by clients Peterborough City Council.

Work includes adding a second carriageway to a one mile section of the A15 Paton Parkway between junction 21, Gunthorpe and junction 22, Werrington, in Peterborough. Paston Parkway is a principal northern gateway into Peterborough and the dualling project aims to alleviate present peak-time congestion and ease future traffic growth.

Acoustic fencing will be installed at an early stage in the scheme to minimise noise to local residents, both during construction and when the road comes into use. The project is to be financed through the Department of Communities and Local Government's Growth Area Fund (GAF) and is expected to be completed by March 2008.
