Jacobs to reconstruct roads in Illinois

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Edwards and Kelcey Design Services Inc., received a contract from the Illinois Tollway to provide construction management services to reconstruct and widen a two-mile stretch of the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) and to reconstruct the cash side of the York Road Toll Plaza in Oak Brook, Ill., west of Chicago. Jacobs' work is part of the Illinois Tollway Congestion-Relief Program, which includes the $178 million Rebuild & Widen Project from York Road to Route 83 on I-88.

For the current project, Jacobs will manage the widening of two miles of I-88 in each direction; the reconstruction of two bridges, eight retaining walls, and various ramps; the reconstruction of the cash plaza and plaza building, and the construction of a fourth Open Road Tolling lane at the York Road Toll Plaza. This stretch of highway is traveled by approximately 225,000 vehicles daily.
