| Mott MacDonald to produce plan for development in Abu Dhabi Mott MacDonald has been appointed to develop and implement the Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) for Aldar Properties PJSC's flag ship development of the Central Market in Abu Dhabi, the largest of the emirates in the UAE. This high-profile development is part of President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan's vision for taking Abu Dhabi into a new era as well as boosting tourism and business in the region. The site has cultural and historic importance to locals as it was home to the original Central Market known as the Old Souq where locals gathered to exchange goods and socialise. The 56,000m² re-development will comprise of an 88 storey residential tower, a 58 storey office block, 5 star and 4 star hotels, retail outlets, car parking facilities, a new souq, a mosque and parks with landscaped gardens, some of which are terraced over the main retail podium. A retail bridge will also be constructed crossing Khalifa street, the main high street in Abu Dhabi.
