| Zlote Tarasy awarded International Shopping Centre of the Year Zlote Tarasy, a two-million square-foot, mixed-use center in Warsaw designed by The Jerde Partnership, has received the 2007 International Shopping Centre of the Year Award. The award was presented by the Retail & Leisure Institute (RLI) based in the United Kingdom. Jerde, a Los Angeles-based architectural and urban planning firm, is known for pioneering the concept of experience design and placemaking. The firm's design for Zlote Tarasy combines office, entertainment, retail and dining functions in an architectural composition that features one of the largest glass roofs in the world. Zlote Tarasy, which opened in February 2007, is expected to draw 12 million visitors in its first year, ignite further development in the central business district and help reconnect Warsaw's urban grid, much of which was destroyed during WWII. Zlote Tarasy was developed by ING Real Estate, who was given the 2007 Developer of the Year Award by RLI. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
