| Solar energy creates excellent prospects for the labour market The solar industry is booming and is developing into a leading job creator for the German economy. This is upheld by the exhibitors at Intersolar 2007, which will be held on 21th and 23th June in Freiburg (Germany). Europe's largest trade fair for solar technology is meeting the strong demand by bringing together employers and job seekers at a new job exchange. Exhibitors have confirmed the strong demand: the industry giants Conergy, Q-Cells, SMA and SolarWorld alone are creating more than 2,000 new jobs this year. According to a forecast in the "Environmental Technology Atlas" recently presented by the German Minister of the Environment, Sigmar Gabriel, the German market for environmental technology is becoming a job motor for Germany. The study, which is based on interviews with more than 1,500 companies in the industry, predicts that by 2020 there will be more people working in the environmental industry than in the automotive industry or machine engineering. This is a trend which is already palpable in the European solar industry today, and which determines the growth strategy of many companies. Intersolar 2007 will expand its offerings for national and international solar industry players. The service is supported through a cooperation with greenjobs.de, one of the first job exchanges for environmental engineers. With a special service for the solar industry, Europe's largest solar energy trade fair will be offering a new platform within an established network, which will intensify contact between companies and job seekers. Since the halls in Freiburg do not have the capacity to accommodate any further expansion of the trade fair, Intersolar 2008 will take place in Munich for the first time. The organisers see the move to the Bavarian capital as an opportunity to forge ahead with the internationalisation process and offer an even more attractive and extensive programme for exhibitors and visitors next year. Intersolar 2007 is supported by the solar industry's leading associations: the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar), the German Solar Energy Society (DGS), the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF) and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). Intersolar is the leading international specialised trade fair for solar technology and is organised jointly by Solar Promotion GmbH, Pforzheim and Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG. Intersolar focuses on photovoltaics, solar thermal technology and solar architecture. Since its beginnings, it has established itself as the industry's leading international trade fair attracting manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and service providers alike. In 2007, Intersolar will further expand its status as the largest European specialised trade fair for solar technology. Compared with last year, the number of exhibitors is up from 454 to 620, while the exhibition space has been increased from 26,000 square metres to 34,000 square metres. At the same time, Intersolar is further consolidating its position as the leading European platform for solar technology. In 2006, the proportion of international exhibitors was 30%. This year, 37% of exhibitors will be travelling to Freiburg from over 35 countries. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
