Statoil places insulation and surface contract with the D&F Group

A frame contract for work at Norway's Kårstø gas processing complex and on the two Draupner riser platforms has been placed with the D&F Group by Statoil on behalf of Gassco. The NOK 640 million contract runs for five years from 2007 to 2011 and covers replacement of insulation and surface treatment at the plant north of Stavanger and on the North Sea's Draupner platforms. Kårstø and the Draupner platforms are owned by the Gassled joint venture, with Gassco as operator and Statoil as technical service provider.

Part of the Kårstø facility became operational as early as 1985. Existing insulation and surfaces require replacing and upgrading, and activities relating to inspection and technology development in this area have been substantially stepped up in recent years.

Executing the extensive replacement programme will safeguard the technical condition of the plant in terms of insulation and corrosion protection, and help to extend its economic life. The programme will start in the oldest part of the complex and run in parallel with ordinary maintenance work.
