| New ’Sipark PMA’ management system from Siemens "Sipark PMA" from Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) is a new multi-storey car park system which can be used for all public and private multi-storey car park and parking space applications. The equipment responsible for access and payment control includes barriers, entry and exit control units, pay stations and servers. The latter monitor and control the various items of equipment and also supply key management data for the car park operator. With its Sipark PMA solution (Parking Management Application), Siemens is now offering sector-specific solutions for banks, hotels and the retail trade as well as complex solutions for airports, trade fairs and shopping centers. There are also large-scale overall solutions for professional operators of multi-storey car parks. Sipark PMA is modular, supports currently used interface standards and possesses an open, Ethernet-based network concept which is the only one of its kind that is suitable for such applications. The system can therefore be used for any size of project. It is especially suitable for complex installations where the simple link-up to supplementary technical systems such as non-vehicular access control units for buildings or video monitoring equipment plays a crucial role. Sipark PMA supports all currently available technologies, from the proven standard magnetic strip to the latest RFID transponder technology and card processing with a PIN code. The advantages of standards for the ticket and storage media offered by the Siemens solution are obvious. For example, a person visiting a building equipped with access controls collects a parking voucher from the ticket dispenser upon entering the underground car park. This voucher simultaneously serves as access ticket allowing him to proceed to his destination inside the building, such as the service department, without further checks. The Sipark PMA range of products includes control devices which issue and check magnetically coded short-term parking tickets and also accept long-term parking tickets, credit cards, EC cards and special tickets. They enable parking fee calculation and take into account any discounts that are applicable. The machine acceptance speed for standard tickets is less than 0.7 seconds. An automatic and a compact manual pay station handle all payment processes in the multi-storey car park such as parking-fee calculation (including discounts if any), renewal and post-payment of tickets for long-term car park users, as well as loading and post-payment of cash cards. The settings for coin and banknote handling and receipt printing can be adjusted according to the specific country and customer. A microprocessor-controlled barrier opens and closes in 1.5 seconds with a gentle movement that causes very little wear on the mechanical components. Barriers up to 3.2 meters wide can be installed. A database solution is capable of performing extensive administrative and reporting functions and provide operators of multi-storey car parks with a modern and effective means of all-round parking area management. The server equipment ranges from the single parking space system with up to 25 parking devices to complete network architectures. With its Sipark PMA family of systems and the established Sipark SSD (Single Space Detection) system, Siemens supplies a complete range of products for parking space management. Sipark SSD enables sensor-based monitoring of single parking spaces. As a result a vehicle can be guided to a specific parking space, thus ensuring optimum parking space occupancy. At the moment, the system is being used in many multi-storey car parks, such as in Munich, Toulouse, Oslo and Singapore. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
