| PBS&J releases new Flood Map Desktop beta software PBS&J announced the release of a new, no-cost beta version of Flood Map Desktop (FMD), the newest member of its popular suite of regional watershed management software products and solutions. FMD provides FEMA flood mapping partners with all the necessary tools to quickly and efficiently complete their Map Modernization projects. An extension for ESRI's ArcGIS 9.1 desktop software, FMD resides on the user's desktop and requires no Internet connection, providing users with the flexibility to manage their own data and processes based on their specific requirements. The FMD software extension enables users to create FEMA DFIRM paper maps and Standard DFIRM Databases that are compliant with FEMA Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners. FMD includes a robust set of GIS data and cartographic mapping tools that were developed based on the many years of knowledge and experience PBS&J gained by supporting hundreds of DFIRM projects and producing thousands of DFIRM maps. Today, PBS&J Certified Floodplain Managers use FMD to perform major portions of the flood mapping process for their own DFIRM projects. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
