| Barcelona hosted the largest ever edition of Construmat The 15th Construmat, Fira de Barcelona's International Construction Show, which was held from 14 to 19 May, received a total of 286,000 visitors, 8% more than in 2005, and had 10% more stands space with a full house in the Gran Via and Montjuïc exhibition centres. Construmat had a stands space of 155,000 m², 10% more than the 2005 show, thanks to the incorporation of pavilions 1 and 8 of the Gran Via exhibition centre. The complex, designed by the Japanese architect Toyo Ito, consists of a large main foyer and eight pavilions, connected internally by walkway which smoothly channelled the numerous visitors to the event. 4,500 companies from 50 countries participated in this 15th show, the largest to date, exhibiting 50,000 products in 2,450 stands and making 1,100,000 business contacts. The quality of proposals presented, such as the Sustainable Building R4House projects, Casa Barcelona and APTM, and the two monographic shows (Concepto Baño and Pintudecora) accentuated Construmat's important standing in the sector. The show provided the setting for over 60 technical events with the presence of important architects and experts such as Luis Mansilla, Emilio Tuñón, Fermín Vázquez, Massimiliano Fuksas, Karim Rashid and Gerd Hauser, among others. The Mies van der Rohe and the Construmat Technological Innovation Awards ceremonies reaffirmed the show's role in innovation and research, and as a forum for reflection and debate about contemporary housing, characteristic traits of Construmat. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
