Mott MacDonald's role as Technical Advisor to Solihull Council reaches key stage

Mott MacDonald's role as Technical Advisor to Solihull Council on its Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme has reached a key milestone as the scheme reached financial close.

This will mean that Solihull Council's plan to rebuild four of their secondary schools in the North of the Borough, an area of high deprivation, can now go in to the construction phase. This project, part of the Government's BSF programme includes the complete rebuild of four secondary schools, one a school for children with emotional, social and behavioural needs. Three of the schools will be built under Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and the other Design and Build (D&B), however to ensure consistency, all four schools are being procured under a single contract.

Building Schools for the Future is part of the Government's initiative to work with local authorities and the private sector to rebuild or renew every one of England′s 3,500 state secondary schools during the 15-year lifetime of the £45 billion programme.
