| Techtextil targets new opportunities for structures and works The use of technical textiles is growing continuously throughout the world. More and more of these high-tech materials are also being used for protection and reinforcement in the building sector. One of the fastest growing areas of application is as reinforcement for concrete, a field in which textiles are distinguished not only by corrosion resistance, durability and reductions in cost but also by increases of over 80 percent in load-bearing capacity. Numerous companies will be showing their products for this area of application at Techtextil. The fringe programme of Techtextil will also take account of the high level of interest in this subject with numerous lectures. There are two lecture blocks at the Techtextil Symposium, each with ten lectures on the Buildtech subject of 'Building with membranes – textile architecture' and ten on 'Textile reinforcement – new opportunities for solid structures'. The Techtextil Symposium will be held together with the Avantex Symposium at Congress Centre Messe Frankfurt from 11 to 14 June 2007.
