| East London Line extension project wins international award Mott MacDonald and Transport for London (TfL) design team have won an international award of excellence at the prestigious Bentley Empowered Conference held in Los Angeles this May. The award is for the way in which the East London Line design team has applied Bentley 3D modelling software to create a virtual reality model of the 10km East London Line which has primarily been used for signal sighting. The model offers a seamless virtual reality for planners using the system, although it actually contains more than 250 engineering models to help engineers to place signals without the need to actually visit the site. "This model has saved £1/2 million and at least six months in signalling design time", commented Mark Eaden who collected the award on behalf of Mott MacDonald. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
