| a+ consortium to widen A8 motorway in Germany Egis Projects, a shareholder of the concession company autobahnplus A8 GmbH (a+), has reached financial close and started operation of the A8 motorway between Munich and Augsburg. The concession company a+ has been awarded the contract to widen a stretch of 35 km of the existing motorway A8 from the present 2 x 2 lanes to 2 x 3 lanes with an emergency lane to ease this chronically congested motorway. The contract has been let on the basis of design, build, finance and operate a total of 52 km for a period of 30 years. The client for this Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) contract is the Federal Government represented by the State Government of Bavaria. The Dutch developer BAM PPP, the American company Fluor Infrastructure and the German construction company Trapp each hold a 25 per cent stake in the concession company, with Egis Projects holding 19 per cent and the German construction company Berger Bau the remaining 6 per cent. The German construction companies Wayss & Freytag (a subsidiary of BAM Group), Trapp, Berger Bau and Fluor participate with equal shares (25 per cent each) in the construction joint venture. The motorway will be operated for a period of 30 years by a special purpose company autobahnplus Services GmbH under the leadership of Transroute International, a subsidiary of Egis Projects (56%) together with Wayss & Freytag (16%), Trapp (16%) and Berger Bau (12%).
