| URS to provide services for California high-speed rail system URS Corporation, through a joint venture with Hatch Mott MacDonald, LLC and Arup, has been awarded two contracts by the California High-Speed Rail Authority to provide engineering and environmental services for the proposed California high-speed rail system. Under the terms of the first contract, the joint venture will provide preliminary engineering services and environmental analysis for a proposed 193-mile segment running from Fresno to Palmdale. This six-year contract has a value of $120 million to the joint venture, and a maximum value of $41 million to URS. Under the second contract, the joint venture will provide similar services for a proposed 61-mile segment of the rail line running from Los Angeles to Palmdale, California. This six-year contract has a value to the joint venture of $75 million, with a maximum value of $21 million to URS. When completed, the California high-speed rail system will allow passengers to travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles in just under 2 1/2 hours on trains traveling up to 220 mph.
