| J.A. Walker receives U.S. SBA Subcontractor of the Year Award The U.S. Small Business Administration has selected the Denver-based construction firm J.A. Walker Co., Inc. to receive the 2007 Subcontractor of the Year Award for Region VIII. J.A. Walker Co. was founded by Jim Walker, Sr. in 1976. Since that time, the company has been responsible for over $500 million in construction projects. A Prime Contractor, which has also served as a Subcontractor on select projects, J.A. Walker Co. has been involved in many of Colorado's premier landmark projects, including the Hyatt Convention Center Hotel, the Colorado Convention Center Expansion, the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, and the Blair-Caldwell African-American Research Library along with performing extensive work at Denver International Airport.
