| Alcoa expands wide base wheel options Alcoa Wheel Products has introduced new 22.5" x 15" wheel. The new wheel, part number 856520, has been designed to replace dual wheels on transit applications. The new 15" wheel weighs 71 pounds and carries a 13,500-pound maximum load rating. Switching from aluminum duals to the Alcoa 15" wheel, 856520 and tire assembly, saves 150 pounds in weight per axle; additional fuel savings can be realized from the reduced rolling resistance associated with single wide tires. Significant weight savings can even result from replacing aluminum dualed wheels with the wide base wheel and tire combination.
