Siemens wins contract for expressway in Bangkok

Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group has received an order from the Expressway & Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (ETA) to install toll collection, traffic control, and communication systems for the Ramindra Outer Ring Project in Bangkok, Thailand. The order is worth about 6.3 million euros, and the completion of the project is expected by the end of 2008.

The Ramindra Outer Ring project from ETA will expand the expressway network in the northeast of Bangkok and its vicinity. The new expressway extends over a total length of 9.5 km. It will mitigate the traffic congestion on the ground level, and facilitate the transportation flow on the northeast side of Bangkok.

Siemens I&S will provide a comprehensive toll collection and traffic control system as well as a communication system. The scope of delivery includes a traffic computer, variable message signs and CCTV video camera system (closed circuit television) plus all associated infrastructure such as an emergency telephone system and fiber optic communication.
