| U.S. housing starts increase 9 percent in February ![]() Privately-owned housing starts increased 9% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.525 million in February from a revised 10-year low of 1.399 million in January, but is 28.5 % below the February 2006 rate of 2.132 million. Single-family housing starts increased 10.3% in February to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.22 million. Privately-owned housing completions in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.66 million.
