| Amec announces results for 2006 The London-based firm Amec said year-end results were in line with expectations despite pre-tax losses increasing due to construction losses. Pre-tax profit before exceptional items fell to £64.7m (2005 £73.9m). Revenue for the period increased 14% to £3.2bn. Dividends were raised 6% to 12.2p. The group said it hopes to deliver operating margin target of around 6% in 2008 and 8% in 2010. Amec has commenced the divestment process for the non-core businesses, which it hopes to complete by the end of 2007. "As we move through 2007 and into 2008 strong prospects in the core energy businesses are combined with real progress in our cost cutting, with net benefits of £40 million from 2008 onwards," said Chief Executive Samir Brikho. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
