New voltage range SPY holiday detector

Pipeline Inspection released an addition to their portable holiday detector models. The manufacturer states the new SPY Model 785 pulse unit will compliment their models 780 and 790 by providing a 1,000 to 15,000-voltage range. The SPY 785 is designed for holiday detection ranging from thin films or FBE to medium coatings. To test the integrity of thin film coatings, the direct current Model 780 provides infinite voltage settings over the 1000 to 5000 volt range. With its 5000 to 35,000 volt range, the Model 790 inspects a wider range of thick coatings including most coal tars, extruded and tapes coatings as well as somastic coatings.

The 785 will share the same ergonomic advancements as the SPY Models 780 and 790 including the topside handle and angled grip for easier, more comfortable maneuvering down the pipeline. A built in jeep meter minimizes set up allowing operators to quickly and accurately inspect pipe coatings on two to 60" pipe diameters. All holiday detectors are equipped with an audible alarm for operations where heavy equipment may impair hearing and a visible positive ground indicator light to ensure reliable operation.

The SPY portable holiday detectors are lightweight, self-contained and employ proven circuitry. Each model features infinite voltage settings to allow specific sensitivity adjustments on the fly. Each system is packaged in a durable molded carrying case that includes two 8 hours batteries, a charger, detector, electrode wand, and ground cable.
