| Amec expert wins prestigious Canadian engineering medal The Engineering Institute of Canada will present Peter Lighthall, P.Eng., with one of its highest honours at its annual awards ceremony in Ottawa, ON on March 3, 2007. Lighthall is a globally respected mining engineer with Amec, the international project management and engineering services company. Having worked on more than one hundred mines, Lighthall has led multi-disciplinary teams on a number of the world's largest mines. His expertise is in creating 'tailings' disposal systems which are highly regarded for their security of the environment. With more than 35 years experience as a geotechnical engineer, he is also regarded as a solution-finder for embankment dams, slope stability as well as foundation and rock engineering. He is currently coordinating Amec's earth and environmental market sector activities for the mining industry in South America. This will be Lighthall's second major achievement award from the Engineering Institute of Canada.
