Halcrow wins Clyde Gateway contract

The Glasgow office of global multi-disciplinary consultancy Halcrow has secured a major commission for the massive regeneration project which is expected to transform the east end of Glasgow and part of South Lanarkshire. Halcrow has been appointed by the Clyde Gateway Regeneration Initiative to lead a strategic implementation study for the South Dalmarnock and Shawfield districts. Stage 1 of the study will be developed over five months, during which Halcrow's development planning team will produce a practical urban solution focusing on planning and urban design, transportation, market appraisal, infrastructure and environmental issues.

The Clyde Gateway covers a substantial part of Glasgow's east end, straddling the Clyde into South Lanarkshire. Scotland's economic development agency, Scottish Enterprise, is investing £248 million into the economically-deprived area, with an additional £1.4 billion contribution expected from the private sector.
