| Amec consortium wins National Grid contract A consortium comprising Amec, Babcock International and Mott MacDonald, has been awarded a five-year, £500m contract to form an integrated Alliance with National Grid for the upgrade of overhead power lines and underground cables across the western half of England and all of Wales. It is one of six Alliance contracts to be awarded this week by National Grid. Worth a total of £2.5 billion over five years, the Alliance contracts represent a significant part of the company's investment in the electricity transmission network. The consortium's work will enable new infrastructure such as wind farms and other electricity generation plant to be connected to the grid and will cover enhancement and replacement of existing assets to ensure the continuing safe and reliable operation of the high-voltage electricity network. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Construction News :: home page |
