Sensor+Test provides special benefits

The Measurement Fair Sensor+Test will be held from 22 to 24 May in Nuremberg. The number of bookings for exhibitors has already exceeded the figures for last year by more than 10%. Besides the fair itself, a number of other events associated with the Sensor Conference, including the GESA Expert Forum, workshops, seminars, and other dedicated forums, will offer visitors considerable additional value.

Events taking place in Nuremberg at the same time as the Measuring Fair pose an additional appeal. At the 13th SensorConference, chaired by Prof. Dr. R. Lerch, University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, experts will again discuss trends and novelties in all areas of sensor technology. Integrated in the conference programme is the Microsystems Forum chaired by Dr. L. Heinze, VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, Berlin.

For the first time at the Sensor+Test is the GESA Expert Forum 2007 with the topic "Experimental Structure Analysis for Condition Monitoring." This forum, organised under the auspices of the Association for Experimental Structure Analysis (GESA) in der VDI/VDE-GMA jointly with the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), deals with structural health monitoring (SHM) of constructions, machines, and technical systems.

A number of sessions and workshops complement the programme. Thus, a one-day special session for promoting young talent and providing innovative training will present solution approaches to the urgent demand for qualified professionals. Also, the CEEES Conference on Environmental Simulation, a PTB conference on the effects of the European Measuring Devices Directive, and a workshop about sensorics-relevant support programmes in the EU and Germany.

In the Action Hall a number of exhibitors will provide live demonstrations of state-of-the-art measuring technology daily between 10:00 and 16:00. One highlight is vehicle measuring technology, but also motor test rigs, infrared measuring techniques, and much more can be experienced live. A special show deals with the development of strain gauges. Here, a collection of old and special gauges will be shown that document the history of this sensor element.

The exhibitor forums will again attract numerous visitors. Many exhibitors will explain their new developments in 30-minute presentations. On the forum numerous contributions and a podium discussion will be held on "Wireless Sensor Networks and Data Transfer."

At the Sensor+Test 2007, the 10,000-Euro Sensor Innovation Award will be presented for the seventh time by the AMA Association for Sensor Technology. The AMA Association endeavours thus to emphasize outstanding R&D activities in the area of sensorics and related technologies having a clearly discernible market approach.
