| Prestolite Power introduces Equinox Battery Chargers Ametek Prestolite Power has introduced Equinox Switchmode Rapid Battery Chargers. The 18-kilowatt Equinox charger is suitable for a wide range of electric vehicle and material handling environments. The Equinox features an intelligent modular design that incorporates state-of-the-art IGBT technology that controls the charger's functions and minimizes downtime. The Equinox has a cost-effective planar transformer design that provides better cooling for longer component life and more consistent manufacturing for greater reliability. The 18-kilowatt transformer weighs a mere 15.2 pounds. The Equinox's rectifier, power factor correction and inverter modules are keyhole mounted for quick connections and are equipped with handles for fast and easy replacement. All are mounted to extruded aluminum heat sinks and have their own thermal protection. The front panel display of Equinox's user interface features an easy-to-read 40- character, 2-line vacuum fluorescent display with 16-key sealed membrane keypad for data access and programming and 4 LEDs to indicate charge progress.
