| Fugro wins contracts in USA Fugro, a worldwide operating geotechnical survey and engineering firm, has won contracts to provide geotechnical investigations for storm protection enhancements in the New Orleans district and in California. These contracts represent a total value of USD 50 million (EUR 40 million) for Fugro. Fugro Consultants, Inc. and its joint venture partners have signed a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, District New Orleans to provide geotechnical studies and related services for the preliminary design and engineering of storm protection enhancements throughout the District. The contract value will not exceed USD 100 million (EUR 75 million) or three years in duration. Fugro's share of the total work effort is estimated to be 40 per cent. Geotechnical studies will focus on 350 miles (approximately 560 kilometers) of federal levees. The joint venture, led by Fugro, is comprised of Fugro Consultants, Inc., Houston, TX; Fuller, Mossbarger, Scott & May, Lexington, KY; Eustis Engineering Company, New Orleans, LA and Burns, Cooley, Dennis, Inc. (BCD), Ridgeland, MS. Fugro West, Inc. also starts geotechnical exploration, testing and analysis on levees that protect urban communities in California against flooding. Fugro is part of a team that was awarded a contract with the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).
