Carillion completes £135m Oxford Radcliffe Hospital

Construction company Carillion has successfully completed and handed over a £135 million PFI development at the Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital. The new building consists of 55,000 square metres of hospital comprising 14 high technology operating theatres, specialist radiology units, intensive care beds and ward accommodation. Contracts for the development were signed in December 2003 and construction has been completed in three years.

A key success factor in winning the project was the planning of the clinical departments that make up the Head and Neck Centre and the Oxfordshire Children's hospital. Both parts of the new facility are linked to the existing Oxford Radcliffe hospital.
