Hochtief receives new FM contract from hospital in Gelsenkirchen

In future, the Evangelical Hospital Gelsenkirchen will save around EUR 100,000 a year in energy costs. This is guaranteed by a five-year performance contract concluded by Evangelische Kliniken Gelsenkirchen GmbH and Hochtief Facility Management Energy GmbH. The amount saved represents more than 17 percent of the hospital's present energy consumption.

Hochtief Facility Management Energy will achieve the savings by targeted measures in the areas of heating, ventilation and electrical engineering, which will all be implemented without interrupting the hospital's day-to-day work. The measures include the installation of new control devices in the heating control center, in all heating circuits and in the air-conditioning facilities. In addition, a building services control center is to be installed.

Other plans include adapting the running times of the air-conditioning facilities to actual demand. Hochtief Facility Management will also optimize the hot-water flow quantity and cut losses in the heating network, for instance by retro-insulating pipelines and fittings. Another measure involves scaling down pump operating periods and replacing old pumps. In order to cut power consumption even further, Hochtief will also replace around 100 luminaires by so-called T5 lamps. These provide greater light output with lower power consumption.

In this contract, the Essen-based company will deploy its long years of experience and expertise in performance contracting in hospitals. It is, for instance, already helping two hospitals in Stuttgart and the Gangelter Einrichtung Maria Hilf to save energy costs.
