’Textilplus’ materials show at Heimtextil 2007

As the trade fair for home and contract textiles, Heimtextil not only shows fabrics but also visualises their application and presents innovative interior design solutions, which is why Material Connexion Cologne is staging an exhibition specifically for architects and planners, "Contract ", on a special display area. Under the "Textilplus" banner, the Cologne branch of the international materials library will be presenting forward-looking materials solution for innovative contract concepts, in the form of large models which visitors can touch and experience. The focus here is not on textiles alone but also on other materials of interest to contract furnishers.

Based on the motto "Textiles and Feel", Material Connexion in Frankfurt will be appealing to the visitor's senses. The broad palette of polymers offers creative concepts for sophisticated surface designs, as do the natural materials and natural material derivatives looking to conquer the contract furnishing sector with their authentic look and feel. Fibreglass and metal fabrics are also conquering new fields of application in the contract sector, as wall decorations for example. Based on the key concept "Textiles + Extreme flame resistance", Material Connexion will also be presenting textiles and materials which meet the technical safety standards becoming ever more important in the commercial property sector.

The "Textiles + Function" sector will be showing materials with special technical properties, including interactive surfaces, innovative sound-proofing materials, self-illuminating fabrics and antibacterial textiles, in fact everything covered by the term Smart Textiles. The exhibition theme "Textiles + Intelligence" reflects the aspect of sustainability. Raw material regeneration, compostability, fitness for the future and bio-high-tech are just some of the topics represented by the materials on show.

The Material Connexion materials library, founded in New York in 1997 by George Beyler, is now seen as the information source for future-orientated materials and finishing processes. The library spans over 3,000 material samples in eight product categories: ceramics, glass, metals, polymers, carbon- and cement-based materials, natural materials and natural material derivates.
