CEE Quality Awards for 2006

Central & Eastern Europe's elite annual property awards event has announced this year's Quality Awards Jury and award categories. Also announced was the decision to keep the annual gala dinner and awards ceremony at its traditional home at the InterContinental Warsaw Hotel, Poland, ON 20th February 2007. Held each February in Warsaw, Poland the CEE Quality Awards has established itself as the most reliable and objective review of the year's achievements across the region and the elite industry gathering of the year.

In 2005 a total of 18 awards were presented including a Lifetime Achievement Award for leading Hungarian businessman Sándor Demján, whose company TriGranit development Corporation picked up the CEE Retail Development of the Year and CEE Outstanding Development of the Year 2005. EC Harris was winner for then third time in a row of the CEE Commercial Services Company Award, while Aviva Fund/Morley Asset Management won CEE Investor of the Year and CEE Outstanding Company of the Year 2005.

The reduction this year in the number of awards to 14, plus the elimination of Russia from the scope of the event reducing the number of participating countries to ten, are the major changes to the structure of the event.

“These are not changes for changes sake, ” said Quality Awards director Richard Hallward.

“The event is maturing just the same as the market place is, and we have learned from our partners and sponsors over the few years we’ve been going that a stronger focus on the core aspects of the sector is beneficial, both in the selection of awards and the geographical scope of the event.

"The elimination of Russia might seem a backward step but it's not. While at one stage Russia and the 'EU interested' C&EE countries were working from the same road map, Russia has in many ways now separated out into a completely different market with its own bearings and its own players. It reached the point where awards slipping out the door to unfamiliar distribution centres in Siberia just didn't make sense for our market, nor probably theirs."

Another key development is the announcement of a succinct format half-day 'QA Insight Conference' on the day of the gala event on 20th February. With many of the key players in town for the main event, the event aims to get them discussing the issue of Land & Planning in Central & Eastern Europe.
