Ticona introduces new acetal copolymer

Ticona has introduced the low-gloss, black acetal copolymer for exterior use. The new grade, Hostaform WR140LG acetal copolymer gives automakers and other manufacturers the ability to create exterior components having the contemporary low-gloss look consumers value.

This specialty grade of acetal provides 60° gloss readings of less than 3%, depending on mold texture. In addition, it undergoes relatively little appearance change after extended UV exposure and does not form a chalky pigment residue on the surface as do many weatherable acetals.

Hostaform WR140LG is targeted for use in such auto exterior applications as trim elements, windshield wiper and door handle components, window rail end caps, and antenna mounts. Other markets for the new grade include outdoor sprinkler systems, recreational vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and outdoor furniture.
