Australia's John Holland awarded $1.12B project alliance

The John Holland Group has been awarded a contract to construct, operate and maintain the $1.12B Gold Coast Desalination Project in Tugun, Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) and QLD State Government have announced. John Holland's share of the project is $700m.

Capable of producing 125ML of drinkable water per day, the Gold Coast Desalination Project will provide a bulk water supply that will be part of the solution to secure the South East Queensland region's ability to fulfil future water needs.

John Holland will undertake the Gold Coast Desalination Project in an alliance with GCCC, the Qld State Government, partner Veolia Water and sub alliance partners SKM and Cardno. The project is set to be ready to produce the first water out by November 2008 and full completion in Jan 2009.
