| Morgan Est to construct electricity substations for National Grid Morgan Sindall's infrastructure services provider Morgan Est and consortium partners ABB and Atkins have been appointed preferred bidder for a five-year contract, worth up to £600 million, to develop and construct electricity substations across central Britain for National Grid. The contract could be worth as much as £175 million to Morgan Est. Morgan Est and its consortium partners together form one of four Electricity Substation Alliances appointed by National Grid to develop new electricity substations across England and Wales. National Grid has also appointed two overhead line and cable Alliances to upgrade overhead lines and underground electricity cables. The Alliance contracts are worth around £2.8 billion in total and will be a significant part of the overall potential capital investment to upgrade and develop the electricity transmission network across England and Wales. The initial contract runs until 2011 with the potential to extend the contract for a further five years. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
