PB provides services for Upper Northwest Interceptor

Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) has been awarded a contract by the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District to provide construction management services for construction of a new interceptor sewer.

The project involves installation of 18,500 feet of reinforced concrete pipe varying in diameter from 66 inches to 84 inches. The pipe will be installed without open-cut construction by pipejacking, two-pass tunneling and microtunneling. The tunnels will be constructed within the confines of busy surface streets in the urban area of Rio Linda and beneath sensitive facilities, including the Union Pacific Railroad and flood protection levees.

The $65 million undertaking is part of the Upper Northwest Interceptor Sewer project, which entails construction of over 20 miles of sewers and associated facilities. Construction is expected to begin in January 2007, with completion scheduled for the end of 2009.
