Finnish Pöyry awarded road assignments in Eastern Europe

Poyry's Infrastructure & Environment business group has been awarded two assignments in the Eastern European road infrastructure market. The assignments are for consulting engineering and reconstruction design services for road projects in Albania and Poland. The total value of the contracts is EUR 1.5 million.

The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Albania has awarded Poyry a contract for consulting engineering services for a pre-feasibility study of the new road link between Tirana/Durres and the Greek border. Poyry's services include identification of the most convenient alternative for the 160-km route, environmental impact and geological statements, a traffic demand analysis and forecast, and a cost-benefit analysis. The assignment will be completed within four months.

In addition, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) of Poland has commissioned Poyry to prepare the design for reconstruction of certain road sections of the country's national highway No. 44 on the 57-km stretch from Oswiecim via Skawina to Cracow. The overall reconstruction costs total about EUR 65 million and will be completed over a period of 29 months.
