Berger receives award for work in Vietnam

The Berger Group was presented with a 2006 Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Project Achievement Award for work on the Hai Van Pass Tunnel in Vietnam. The $133 million project was part of an effort by the Vietnamese Government to promote economic development and increase safety in Central Vietnam through the reconstruction of National Highway No. 1, the primary North-South corridor linking Hanoi and the northern provinces with Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces.

Berger's tasks included the design and construction of a 12-kilometer tunnel through the Hai Van Pass. The tunnel was completed on schedule and under budget, and is the first and longest combined road, tunnel and bridge complex in Southeast Asia as well as one of the 30 longest and most modern tunnels in the world.
