Acciona increased net profit by 25.3%

Spanish construction and energy group Acciona filed its 3Q06 earnings with the CNMV (Spain's stock market regulator). Net profit increased by 25.3% in the period to 320 million euro.

EBITDA totalled 729 million euro, a 39.5% increase on the same period of 2005, and it continues to grow rapidly. EBIT amounted to 492 million euro, 35% more than in 9M05, despite a 49.9% increase in depreciation and amortisation due to growth at the more capital-intensive divisions (principally Acciona Energy).

In the first nine months of 2006, Acciona's consolidated revenues increased by 32.3% to 4.571 billion euro as a result of strong growth at Acciona Infrastructure (+37.1%), Acciona Energy (+74.6%) and Acciona Urban & Environmental Services (+41.9%). The energy business continued to expand, with attributable wind power capacity up 83.6% to 2, 191 megawatts (MW); and the Infrastructure division's backlog increased by 14.9% to 4.994 billion euro at the end of the period. Capital expenditure amounted to 5.287 billion euro in the period, allocated basically to acquiring 10% of Endesa, as well Cesa and Pridesa.
