| Cornerstone laid for new module assembly plant Acciona will open the solar panel plant at Moura. The facility will produce panels equivalent to an annual capacity of 24 MW and will be operational in December 2007. This initiative is part of an overall project at Moura that includes the construction and entry into service of a photovoltaic solar plant with 42 MW in a first phase and 62 MW in a second. This will make it the biggest in the world in terms of installed capacity. The solar panel manufacturing plant stands on a 23,500 m2 site, of which 7,000 m2 corresponds to buildings in a first phase. Construction work will be completed at the end of the year of 2007. It will supply photovoltaic panels in a global context in which demand for this equipment clearly exceeds supply. The photovoltaic solar plant will cover a surface area of 114 hectares in its first phase and will be divided into two differentiated zones: one with fixed solar structures that will support 188,420 photovoltaic panels producing 32 MW, and another with Acciona technology solar trackers. This zone will have 10 MW distributed in 700 trackers with 52,000 photovoltaic panels. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
