Atkins gets set for the Thames Gateway Forum

Atkins, Europe's largest multidisciplinary consultancy, will be exhibiting at the Thames Gateway Forum this year, highlighting the company's fast-expanding range of work in the Government's key growth area and adding to the debate on the Gateway's future.

Peter Heath, Atkins' Principal Public Realm Specialist, will be chairing one of the conference speaker sessions, focusing on 'making public space work', alongside leading design experts Sir Terry Farrell, Ben Hamilton-Baillie, and Dr Jake Desyllas, of Intelligent Space Partnership.

Atkins is engaged on a wide variety of projects in the Thames Gateway, from designing a landmark mixed-use waterfront development at Lea Square, Newham, in the west, right through to design and development of a major casino project for Southend, in the east.

In addition to its physical commitment to the Thames Gateway, Atkins is also investing in skills and education through its sponsorship of a Chair in Civil Engineering at Greenwich University. In September 2006, Professor Chun Qing Li took up his post as the inaugural 'Atkins Professor of Civil Engineering'. Atkins has backed the new chair with sponsorship of £700,000 over the next five years.
