New handheld laser distance measuring tool

Leica Geosystems announced the introduction of the new Disto A2 laser tool designed to make fast and accurate distance measurements for a wide range of indoor tasks. The A2, small enough to fit easily into any pocket, provides measurements within 1/8 in. at ranges of 197 ft.

The simplified keypad has shortcut keys for common functions such as addition, subtraction, area and volume calculation. Its ergonomic design permits one-hand operation. The illuminated display is easy to read even under low-light conditions. The bright red laser dot is clearly visible, making it easy to take measurements of out-of-the-way locations that cannot easily be reached with a metal tape.

The unique 'stake out' function of the Leica Disto A2 makes it easy to measure out constant equal distances, such as between studs or wall frames, for drywall hanging and other jobs. The display shows the preset distance and its multiples. An audible tone is sounded whenever such a distance point is reached. The compact Leica Disto A2 is just 4.9 x 2.2 x 1.4" in size. It runs up to 5,000 hours on a single 9V battery.
