| Acciona, Repsol YPF and UCOGAL to build biodiesel plant in León Acciona, Repsol YPF and Unión Comercial de Ganaderos y Agricultores de León (UCOGAL) will create a company called Biodiesel Esla Campos which will invest over 85 million euros in the construction of a biodiesel plant at Cabreros del Río (León, northwest Spain). The project for the plant is currently being finalised and the next step will be to apply for licences/permits to the local and regional authorities. The developers expect building work to start in 2007 and that the biodiesel plant will be operational in 2009. Apart from the production of biodiesel, the plant is designed to produce almost 140,000 tonnes of rapeseed meal, mostly for animal feed. Last March Repsol YPF and Acciona signed a framework agreement for the construction and implementation of biodiesel plants in Spain that can produce more than 1 million tonnes per year, using first-use vegetable oils as raw material. The agreement represents an investment of around 300 million euros and is the biggest of its kind signed to date in the world in the field of biodiesel. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
