| Rockford-Montgomery Labs moves to ’Athens First Skyscraper’ Rockford-Montgomery Labs, a pharmaceutical company, and their advertising agency Air, Sea and Ground, Inc., (ASG) are moving into the newly renovated and restored penthouse floor of the historic Southern Mutual Building in the Business Center of Athens, GA. The Southern Mutual Building, built in 1908 and referred to as "Athens First Skyscraper" was the largest Ferro concrete building in the South. Through the late 1990s the highly coveted Seventh Floor, with the most beautiful views of Athens, was home to the Athens Clarke County Chamber of Commerce. With the presence of such a distinguished high profile tenant, the name of the building was changed to "The Commerce Building." In 2004 the building was acquired by Fred's Historic Properties and the name was changed to "The Fred Building." write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Construction News :: home page |
