Siam Cement reports results for the third quarter of 2006

Mr. Kan Trakulhoon, President of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCC), disclosed the unreviewed consolidated financial statements for SCC and its subsidiaries for the third quarter of 2006 which showed total sales of 67,690 million baht, representing an increase of 20% primarily due to the stronger-than-expected performance of the Chemicals Business. Moreover, the operating profit before non-recurring items was 8,396 million baht, representing an increased of 5 %; however, with the 798 million baht, non-cash asset impairment in the CRT business, the resulting net profit dropped to 7,598 million baht, down 10 %.

Following the decision to cease the operations of the CRT business in mid October 2006, SCG is expected to impair the after tax remaining assets and investment of approximately 2.7 billion baht in Q4/06.

For the nine months of 2006, total sales amounted to 195,582 million baht, a growth of 16 %, while net profit registered 24,776 million baht, dropped 9 % due to higher energy expense. The unreviewed total assets of SCC and its subsidiaries as of September 30, 2006 amounted to 219,833 million baht.
