| Chavez announced new railway project with Italian contractors  The Republic of Venezuela is to assign a new railway construction project to the consortium formed by Astaldi, Ghella and Impregilo on an equal 33.33% ownership basis. The new project, worth 1.7 billion dollars, was announced by the President of the Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, during the inaugural ceremony for the 2.5 billion dollar Caracas–Cua line built by the same Italian consortium.
